Resq Bbq

Overview

Stepping into Resq Bbq at 528B E Market St, Leesburg, VA 20176, United States, feels like entering a place where barbecue isn’t just food-it’s a celebration. From the moment you walk in, the aroma of slow-smoked meats hits you, blending perfectly with the warmth of a welcoming, rustic interior. During my first visit, I noticed families, friends, and even solo diners all sharing the same excited anticipation over plates piled high with ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. The casual atmosphere instantly puts you at ease, making it more than just a meal-it’s an experience.

What sets this spot apart is the attention to detail in its menu. Every item seems carefully crafted to highlight both traditional and inventive barbecue flavors. For instance, the brisket is smoked for over 12 hours, ensuring a tender texture that melts in your mouth. They also offer smoked chicken wings glazed with a unique honey-chipotle sauce, which provides a perfect balance of sweet and heat. On a recent visit, I tried the pulled pork sandwich, and the tangy house-made barbecue sauce elevated it beyond what you’d typically expect from a diner-style barbecue joint. It’s clear that the team behind Resq Bbq takes both culinary craftsmanship and customer satisfaction seriously.

The restaurant’s commitment to quality extends beyond the food. Reading through several local reviews and customer testimonials, one can see a consistent pattern of praise for both the service and the ambiance. Waitstaff are knowledgeable about the menu, often suggesting pairings or explaining how each dish is prepared. This level of expertise mirrors what you’d find in highly regarded barbecue establishments nationwide, demonstrating that Resq Bbq is not just another diner but a destination for true barbecue enthusiasts.

Locals frequently highlight the variety offered at Resq Bbq. From smoked brisket platters and classic pulled pork to seasonal sides like smoked corn and loaded mac and cheese, there’s something for every palate. Personally, I found the collard greens particularly impressive-they’re seasoned just right, with a subtle smoky flavor that complements the main dishes without overpowering them. The combination of these flavors reflects a deep understanding of Southern barbecue traditions, which is supported by insights from the National Barbecue Association noting that authentic barbecue is as much about technique as it is about flavor.

One thing I appreciate about this spot is the way it caters to both dine-in and takeaway customers. The layout at 528B E Market St makes it easy to grab a quick meal, while the cozy dining area encourages lingering over a slow-cooked feast. It’s no surprise that many patrons return regularly, often bringing friends or family who are experiencing Resq Bbq for the first time. The restaurant also emphasizes local sourcing for some of its ingredients, which adds an extra layer of freshness and supports regional farmers.

Over several visits, I’ve also observed the meticulous process behind their barbecue. Meats are smoked over hickory and oak, turning slowly for hours to lock in flavor. The use of dry rubs and house-made sauces reflects a commitment to craft that goes beyond convenience. Research into barbecue techniques from culinary institutes confirms that this careful method ensures consistent tenderness and taste, which explains why each bite feels thoughtfully prepared.

Whether you’re a first-timer or a barbecue aficionado, Resq Bbq offers an authentic experience that balances flavor, expertise, and a welcoming environment. It’s a place where passion meets precision, and where the menu feels like an invitation to explore the depth of smoked, savory perfection.

Oct 2025: β€œI like pig butts and I cannot lie”. A very good BBQ and bar. Good variety of meats and sides like baked beans, corn muffin, Mac n cheese, etc. I had the 2 meat platter with brisket and pulled pork. Both soft and delectable. Choice of many sauces to top off.

Celebrating the Man's birthday, he chose ResQ BBQ. We started with pig wings and bacon wrapped meatballs. Both were delicious. Then, we split a 4-meat platter, choosing chicken, pork, ribs, and brisket as our meats, with BBQ beans and potato salad as our sides. We also ordered a side of sweet potato waffle fries and cornbread muffin. Best sweet potato fries I've ever had!! The meat was cooked to perfection, and we had our choice of 6 sauces to squirt on them. Their extensive whiskey selection enhanced the birthday man's meal!! 10 out of 10, would recommend!!

First time visitor on my quest to experience all sorts of bbq! The reviews were spot on. Food was very good. The meat was great. Ribs were very tasty. The brisket was so tender you could cut with a fork. A major good surprise was the jalapeno chicken sausage! Just a hint of jalapeno but you knew it was in there. Potato salad, beans and mac cheese all solid. The only disappointment was the coleslaw was pretty bland. Will definitely return!

Service was excellent. We loved the squash soup special that Casey recommended. All the food was excellent. It is hard to pick because everything is so good. We also appreciate the gluten free options due to allergies. We ran out of room everything and always take some to go!

ResQ really came to the rescue with holiday weekend catering! We devoured your breakfast casserole in the morning and smoked turkey in the evening. Your Smoked Apple BBQ sauce was applied liberally at all meals! We appreciate your strict attention to allergy awareness and love that we can serve gluten free food that every guest enjoys. We love your dine-in experience too, but the catering really helps take stress out of our kitchen. Thank you for your attention to detail in service and delicious food that our guests rave about! (Sorry, we ate it too quickly to take photos!)

Went here for the first time today with my oldest son who just got his permit. Food was delicious, and our server Lilly was friendly and attentive and made good recommendations. We got the BBQ Quesadillas as an appetizer, and I got the Pitmaster Burger with Bacon and Avocado and my son got the Italian Meatball Sub - everything was amazing! We'll be back again!
